Name/Alias: Kelsey or Kels
BiC::
Full Name:: Raya (Friend) Selina (Moon) Lupin (Moony)
Age//Year:: 17, seventh-year
House:: Gryffindor
Affiliation:: The Order, by choice and family association
Parents:: Nymphadora Tonks and Remus Lupin
Blood:: Pure
History:: On a pleasant summer night, seventeen years ago, July the 13th to be exact, a baby girl was born to Remus and Nymphadora Lupin. Nothing could have pleased the couple more than the arrival of their first child. Raya Selina Lupin was the name that they bestowed upon her. Nymphadora (AKA Tonks) gave her the name of Raya, meaning friend. Remus picked out her second name, something after his own heart. Selina, meaning moon. Both names were quite appropriate for the girl they were given to.
When Raya was only a year old, another member was added to the Lupin family; Gerald Bartholomew Lupin. The two were raised in a loving home. But it was sheltered, definitely sheltered, it had to be. The Lupins were active members of the Order, so much of their time was spent hiding, fighting, or just trying to stay alive. About the time when Raya was five and Gerald four, yes another child was born into the family. Raya took a liking to him, just like she had with Gerald. It seemed that, after that point, her eldest brother (Gerald, obviously) seemed to grow further away from his family. It bothered Raya, she tried to engage him in conversation, she wasn’t cruel as far as sisters go…but he didn’t seem to care. After Gerald developed his stutter, however, the problem grew worse and pretty soon it felt as if Raya didn’t even know him anymore. She still tries to reach out to him…but it seems to make him withdraw even more than he already is. And so this is how the children grew up together; Gerald withdrawn, Raya wanting to help even at a young age. The stories her father told them sparked an interest in her mind that couldn’t go unquenched. Raya constantly wanted to hear the stories, old or new, it did not matter.
The stories filled her mind, she wanted to be what her father and his friends had been. Though maybe with slightly better causes. The opportunity never presented itself…until this year. When the school of Hogwarts was taken over by the Death Eaters, by Lord Voldemort. Now everything is censored with great care. What could mere students do? Raya wanted to find out. So she rallied a small group of students and reformed the group that her father and his mates had formed during his days at the school. The Marauders. It was most like her, to take the initiative, because Raya wanted to do anything but sit around and cower in fear at the terror that reigned over the school. She wanted to do something to help. And while the Lupin girl wasn’t sure what a group of students could do…she knew there was something and they’d find out what it was soon enough.
Appearance:: The eldest Lupin child takes more after her father where looks are concerned. Raya was graced with exceptionally pale skin and hazel-colored eyes, much like that of Remus. But, whereas Remus has light brown hair, Raya’s locks are of dark, rich brown that cascade down her back. Who knows how the hell that happened…perhaps Nymphadora’s true hair color is the same as that of Raya’s…though perhaps the girl is just different.
Raya is usually found in her school robes, seeing as how it’s required. Though, on occasion such as weekends or holidays, she can be found in loose sweaters and jeans, typical Muggle clothing. Her robes and uniform are nothing to brag after, however. The Lupins don’t exactly have a whole lot of money; it really isn’t an option at this point. Raya’s clothing is mostly second-hand and can be anywhere from semi-good fit to three sizes too big. She rather enjoys wearing her tie looser than is allowed and her shirt un-tucked with the sleeves rolled up past her elbows. A casual manner. Sometimes she can get away with it, others she can’t. Raya scarcely wears jewelry, spare a small, pewter thumb ring on her right hand that she is rarely seen without.
And to get something clear…the only time the words ‘Raya’ and ‘make-up’ are used in the same sentence is when the phrase ‘does not wear’ is between them. Thus, for people who are rather slow on the uptake; Raya does not wear makeup. She finds it pointless to waste time ‘fixing your face’. Raya has explained it this way: ‘There’s nothing wrong with my face…so why ruin it with colored goop?’ Yes. She can be blunt.
Raya has a nice, toned, rather athletic build. She would probably be considered on the taller side of things, neither short nor average. But that isn’t to say she’s 6’ 7” or something ridiculous like that. No, Raya has the comfortable height of 5’ 10”, no more, no less. Her build is perfect for her position of the Gryffindor Quidditch team as one of three Chasers.
Personality:: As previously stated, Raya can be blunt. She isn’t rude about it, but by no means is she scared to speak her mind, much like her mother. Raya does take after Nymphadora most in personality; out-going, funny, witty, sarcastic, friendly. If you insult her friends or family, run for the hills. Or perhaps you should just hex yourself, because Raya will follow you to those hills and hex you then. So, as you can see, Raya is very loyal. Living up to her name, I suppose, seeing as how it means ‘friend’. Though (while she is friendly and generally well-liked) as every does, Raya has enemies.
There are rivals, say, for instance, in Quidditch. A burning desire rises up to cream the opposing team. But it is not to say that you dislike the other team or hate the opposing players. Unfortunately, there is a power…a team if you will; of people who trigger her temper, play with her fuse…they are not rivals. They are enemies. The Death Eaters are one ‘team’. The next ‘team’? The Slytherins. And last, but certainly not least, the most imposing, formidable opponent of all time. Lord Voldemort. Burning, flaming, festering; the hatred for those groups that doesn’t cease to exist. Her father has told her the stories…he and her mother put their lives on the line daily. And someday, Raya long ago decided, she will fight alongside them, because there are things worth dying for.
On a lighter note, Raya, while most like her mother, also retains certain qualities of her father (not be mere looks alone). Raya knows that to accomplish anything in life, one must learn. And so she studies…and studies…and then she reads…and studies. Raya is deeply devoted to her school work and is constantly trying to attain more knowledge; though that is not to say that she has no life out of school. One can learn much from one’s friends.
Extras::
Raya is Moony.
Her animagi form is a black wolf.
Raya’s pet is a black, great-horned owl named Oakley.
Her wand is fourteen inches of elm. Rather rigid, but good for her purposes, containing a Phoenix feather.
