Name/Alias: Doooood. <3
BiC:
Full Name: Benvolio Valentine Finnigan
Age//Year: 12//Second
House: Gryffindor.
Parents: Parvati Patil and Seamus Finnigan
Blood: Pure-ish? 75%? Half-ish? >.>;;
History: On February 14, Parvati and Seamus were having a romantic night out in Paris, France. The night ended with Parvati in the hospital, and a new baby boy, much to the parent’s surprise; the boy was a month premature.
Up to this point, Benvolio’s mother had been on a Shakespeare kick. At the time she was reading Romeo and Juliet and picked her favorite name from it: Benvolio. His middle name came from the fact his birthday is Valentine’s Day, plus he was born in Paris, France. How romantic was that?
He grew up in an English home, but did live several random places in Europe and the United States, when his parents felt the need to go on a ‘vacation’. He has lived in almost every country in Europe, and a few cities in the United States.
Ever since he was little, his mother, Parvati, would read him Shakespeare, and dress him up in Shakespearean clothing, ranging from the Friar in Romeo and Juliet to Prince Hamlet. Because of that, and because his mother had such an interest in it, Benvolio loves it, too. He never misses a chance to do anything Shakespeare related, and even often quotes his favorite plays.
Ever since he was little, he always feels the need to protect his mother. No, he wasn’t the oldest, and he was the smallest in the family, but he still did it. What he was protecting his mother from, he didn’t know, What he knew, or what he though, was that if he took his eyes off of her for a moment something bad would happen. When his father died, it just got worse.
He never really liked his father. They never got along. Seamus expected too much out of him, and Ben never really liked to live up to it. When he died, though, it all got worse. ‘You look like just like your father’ came more often, the phrase he hated. The kid didn’t want to be like his father. He didn’t. He wanted nothing to do with his father. That was why, when his father croaked, he was only upset because his mother was; he couldn't care less.
Soon, after the death of Seamus, the Finnigan family upped and moved to their cousin’s house. Benvolio immediately loved it. He didn’t have to watch his mother as much, his Aunt could handle it, he was sure.
By the time Hogwarts rolled around, he was more than ready. He came to school prepared, knowing a few spells already. He wasn’t at all surprised that he got into Gryffindor. None of the other houses fit him: he didn’t belong in Slytherin because he wasn’t ambitious; not Hufflepuff, he wasn’t really that nice; he might be smart enough to be in Ravenclaw, he just doesn’t care enough. Gryffindor was the perfect house for him: it was the only one left, and he had some courage, somewhere.
Appearance: Benvolio has been told, several times, that he’s the spitting image of his father, by endless amounts of relatives. It’s true, too. The boy looks hardly anything like his mother. Whenever they went out together, mother and son, the pair always got confused second looks
Always hearing that statement, though, did more harm than good. Benvolio didn’t to look anything like his father. As a result, he formed his own style.
The only time the 12-year-old can be caught in his Hogwart’s Uniform is when he’s in class, or on his way to class. Other than that he can’t stand it. Normally, he’s caught in his favorite outfit: tight black pants, a tight band tee, and a zip-up black Hoodie if it’s cold enough. Usually clad on his feet are a pair of old, low top black converse, his favorite pair of shoes in the whole world.
The parts of his appearance he can’t change are the things that still remind his relatives of his father. First is his sandy blonde hair. Though, Ben keeps it longer, it is very much his father’s. His father kept it short, while the boy’s hair is so long it covers his ice grey eyes. His eyes are his own, thankfully, as they are his favorite thing about himself.
Below his eyes is his lightly freckled nose, one of the things he hates about himself. It’s so childish, something Benvolio never wanted, or wants, to be. Adding to the idea of being childish, he’s scrawny, but that could be for multiple reasons, not only that’s he’s young. He stands at only four foot eight, and, to top it all off, he’s pale. Oh, how he wished he looked more like his mother.
Personality:
Although it’s unknown to all except a select few, Benvolio is highly self-conscious. If anyone where to look at him, they would never guess it, because he looks happy with himself, while he’s around other people. If someone knew him, though, like really knew him, then it would be evident. It’s not that he complains about himself, it’s just his small habits are noticeable. The fact that he eats little, if anything at all, at mealtimes becomes clear once you’re around him for a while.
He’s a happy lad. A smile is normally on his face when he’s around the ones he loves, which is probably the reason most people can’t seem to think there’s something wrong with him. Why would someone as happy and as carefree as that be upset?
He can become a rock, though, when he wants to be. When he’s around people he doesn’t like, this generally happens. Or, when someone mentions his father; that’s one of the things to never do around him. That’s one of his soft spots, one of the ways to truly hurt him.
Benvolio still loves to quote and act out Shakespeare. He dresses up, occasionally, but only when he’s at home. At school, he can be seen wearing a crown, quoting the genius for the amusement of his friends, who normally just laugh at him, good-naturedly. That’s why he does it, though, so he doesn’t mind much.
He hates to be called Benny, Benny-poo or anything like that. He thinks the name ‘Ben’ is alright, but he’d rather be called Benvolio. He won’t let anyone call him Valentine, though. Something that just bothers him.
He can be loud, and talkative, as anything around his friends. Around people he doesn’t know, or like, he can be the total opposite. He can be so quiet that people forget he’s even there, a fact he most enjoys.
Benvolio is a rather smart kid, but he hates to do his homework, so doesn’t, most of the time. Sure it’s not good, but he can’t help it. He does, after all, have better things to do.
